Sewing Machine Parts Primer
Our Sewing Machine Parts Will Elevate Your Sewing Space From Ordinary to Extraordinary!
Sewing Hardware has the sewing machine parts you're looking for!
Our sewing machine parts are made from a specialized process using #2 zinc, which is a common material for casting. The first step to making our custom-designed sewing machine parts is carving out the design in a soft block of wood; the carving will determine the look, shape, and dimension of each sewing machine knob or pull. Once this carving is completed to the caster's satisfaction, a "mold" is made, and a "blank" is "spun" for inspection of weight, smoothness, and thickness. Depending on the size of a sewing machine knob or pull, a mold can make between 3 and 6 items at a time. The mold is then filled with zinc and "spun" in a casting machine to harden. The blanks are sent along to a plating company, which applies one of four finishes: antique brass, antique copper, pewter, or oil rubbed bronze. Since all of our hardware is made to order, please allow 10 days for processing prior to shipment. We're so sure you'll love your new knobs and pulls; we guarantee 100% satisfaction, or your money back.
We provide two different kinds of sewing machine parts:
Sewing Machine Knobs:
● only have one screw
● can be a variety of shapes
● the diameter of a knob is essentially the width of the design
● the projection of the knob is essentially the depth or the distance from the base to the top of the knob
Sewing Machine Pulls:
● have two screws
● standard screw pattern for most US made cabinetry is 3”
● our sewing machine parts are also offered in 3¾” which is also a common measurement in sewing machine cabinetry
● to determine your size, measure from the center of your screw hole to the center of the other screw hole
● projection for pulls is measured the same as for knobs
● the length of the pulls can vary, but to order our sewing machine parts you’ll only need the center to center measurement
To install our sewing machine parts, we provide a 1" screw to fit standard ¾” drawer thickness. Should your cabinetry be less than ¾” thick the knobs/pulls could be loose once installed. Either switch out the screws with the ones that originally came with the cabinet or apply a small washer to the inside of the drawer/door and it will fill the gap created by the "long" screw.
Please remember, when installing, DO NOT use a power screwdriver to install the sewing machine parts hardware. Screw the sewing machine knob or pull in by hand and don’t force it. Also with installing sewing machine pulls, you should alternate tightening the screws as you tighten the pull.
